Our little bread pans (or individual casserole dishes-ca;;ed “cake bakers” on the web.) are the perfect size for dinner or gifts! I cannot tell you how perfectly my bread baked in these little gems! Pictured here is my Zucchini bread. (Recipe is on this blog!) For each pan I used one cup of batter, and they are beautiful, in and out of the pan. You can expect your loved ones and friends to ask you, “Did you do something different? ” when they take a bite of anything baked in your Polish Pottery. Your baked items will be more moist, delicious and they will release easily from the pan. Clean up is a snap too. In November, we are expecting our first shipment from Wisa, (pronounced Visa for all of the non-Polish speakers) and we will get the larger baker pictured here. We picked this one up when we visited the factory last September, and I love the way it bakes! When doubling the basic recipe, I had the exact amount to fill eight small bakers and the one large rectangular baker.

This month one of my favorite items is on sale for 35% off. The “Basia” (meaning “Barbara”–We think she designed the scalloped edge design) serving platters in graduated sizes. We keep the set of four on our counter top on an easel. Each piece is hand painted by an artist making us refer to it as “functional art.” I love to pull them down to serve the different courses of our meal; meat on one, salad on another, pasta on a third one. I even used the largest one for our stuffing on Thanksgiving. The result was a yummy crunchy dish enjoyed by all! Another one of my favorites to prepare on a Basia is an easy stuffed mushroom. I received this recipe from one of my fifth grader’s grandmother, and it is always a hit!

Easy Stuffed Mushrooms

1 pkg. of cream cheese

1 roll of Italian sausage

1/4 finely chopped onion

Add herbs and seasonings to your liking

Large button mushrooms (washed with stems removed)

Stuffed mushrooms served in style!

Fry up the sausage, seasonings, and onion until thoroughly cooked. Drain off fat and mix meat mixture with softened cream cheese. Fill each mushroom cap with meat mixture. Make enough to cover the bottom of the dish. Pop in the oven at 375 degrees for about 10 minutes and serve.

This is a fun recipe to play with. You can add different meats and herbs to go with the theme of your dinner. It is just so easy and yummy!

Consider Polish Pottery 'Functional Art'. The beautiful pottery is meant to be displayed and used. It is capable of use in the microwave, oven, dishwasher, and freezer.

When we started Inspired Design, we were challenged with developing a unique identity – a logo, a slogan, and keywords for our marketing. During that time, I racked my brain to figure out the most succinct term for the Polish Pottery from Bolesławiec.

Thinking about the many uses, usually limited only by the imagination, and the beautiful hand-painted and hand stenciled designs, I settled on the term “Functional Art”. When put under direct lighting, the brilliant glaze encasing the handmade beauty seems to glisten as the design beneath ‘pops’ through. I envisioned the best way to use your Polish stoneware would be to hang it on a wall or in a rack on the counter, pull it off, stick it in the oven with a wonderful culinary creation, use it to serve the family or honored guests, put it in the dishwasher, and place it back in its mounting for all to enjoy as a piece of art.

Maybe you have a better term to describe the way you use your Polish Pottery – please let me know and I’ll look forward to sharing it with all of the Polish Pottery fans out there.
